The 1st Downsview and 1st Scarborough Medical Venturer Company has participated in the annual Toronto St. Patrick’s Day Parade for seven years now. We started off the day with a trip for Donuts and Hot chocolate, before we headed off to wash all the TEMS vehicles for parade. After the through washing and drying with the assistance of the TEMS personnel, we decorated the vehicles with Shamrocks and Kelly green bunting. The weather was great.
We carried the Toronto EMS banner in the parade ahead of the vehicles. All the participants were upbeat and enthusiastic while handing out Junior Paramedic stickers, Junior Paramedic tattoos and TEMS ambulance fridge magnets. Although we mainly handed them out to the children along the parade route the adults jumped out and ask for them too - which we happily obliged. We enjoyed ourselves as we walked the parade route. We even had time to get our picture taken in the middle of the parade. Thanks to Troy vanOverdyjk (B.J. Bear) for organizing our participation. |
